A successful sport performance is the result of a team effort, like a partnership between a boxer and his coach. Another partnership, no less important to the success of sport in Barbados, is that of a sport organization like The Amateur Boxing Association of Barbados, its partners and the corporate sector.

Boxing and business have something in common. Each is concerned with performance and results. Both business leaders and sports leaders are also involved in team building, creating consensus among divers individuals and developing team spirit. A good sports leader makes sure that the right people are in the right positions. The executive, like the sports leader must have vison and the ability to develop strategies that lead to the achievement of long-term goals.

Whether we talk about sport or the business, the objective is the pursuit of excellence.

Over the years, primary funding for the development of amateur boxing was secured on request from sympathetic businesses and persons who possess a natural love for the sport. However, in the future, it will be funding from the private sector which will allow us to maintain and increase our commitment to amateur boxing.

We therefore invite you to join with other corporate partners in support of amateur boxing, to become a major partner in support of young people of our country Barbados, as they struggle to deal with the important issues of today’s world.

For the youth of Barbados is enjoyable and rewarding.

Sport is about training bodies and shaping minds. Education in sport extends far beyond the field and the gymnasium. A good sports administrator helps young people to develop as individuals and to mature as strong as that of parents and greater than that of a teacher. He is not solely concerned with winning; he also develops values both in sport and in life. The sport leader shapes attitudes and teaches social and moral standards.

By supporting amateur boxing you will be enriched the sport experience for thousands of young Barbadians, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, friendship with peers, other athletes and the community.
